In relation to the current trade situation here in Qatar, Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Charito Plaza is confirmed to be flying in to Doha early next week to address the Qatar Philippine Food Security Summit (QPFSS) wherein she is keynote Speaker. Said event to be held on 25 September 2017 at the City Center Rotana Hotel will be setting for Qatari food importers and Philippine food producers and exporters.

Organized by Management Solutions Consultancy presided by it’s managing director Mr. Adel Sa’deh, the QPFSS is under the patronage of Al Read Fresh Foods. At least 6 food processing and exporting companies are confirmed to attend while all major food / FMCG importers and retailers in Qatar will be present.

PEZA Consultant & Special Advisor to the Director General for the Middle East & Northern Europe Mr. Joseph Timothy Rivera disclosed today that Plaza will be in Doha for a 2-day intensive Philippine investment mission. Starting with a briefing with the Philippine Embassy, she will be holding back to back meetings with Qatari companies who are now in the process of site surveying, Philippine company formation & PEZA registration stages after signing investment pledges to the Philippines during the recent state visit to Qatar by president Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Said companies such as the GBS-Black Leaf Consortium having the largest investment plight are mostly into retirement village ecozone development, tourism, construction, IT and ecozone services sectors have a combined investment pledge of around $200,000,000 .

Qatar remains to be the operations hub of PEZA in the middle east and has been very active in promoting Philippine investments in the region regardless of the current political situation. Philippine Business Council Qatar President Greg Loayon, also a Special Advisor for the Director General for the Middle East & Central Europe will also be briefing Plaza on the developments of hospital cooperatives and some financial institutions who are also investing into Philippine Econmic Zones.

Plaza who is now on her 3rd trip to Doha this year is also due to meet with new potential PEZA locator companies who will be singing new Letters of Intent for their investment pledges in the fields of wellness, garments & food processing. Rivera further disclosed that Plaza’s official itinerary will also include social events being the guest of honor in a dinner hosted by OFW supporters of President Roa Duterte.
