The Embassy congratulates Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos for receiving the Gawad Mabini with the Rank of Dakilang Kamanong. This honor is in recognition of Ambassador Santos' contribution, in his previous capacity as Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs, to modernizing the passporting process through the establishment of an e-passport system in the DFA.
Other Embassy personnel who were recognized were Ms. Leni V. Geron and Mr. John Danilo G. Jiao, Jr. as Outstanding Employees, Mr. Abdullah P. Cali who was given the Assistance-to-Nationals award, and Loyalty Awardees Misses Remedios G. Zafra and Fay E. Dela Paz for 30 and 15 years of dedicated service, respectively.
The awarding ceremony was conducted today at the DFA in line with its 118th Foundation Anniversary with H.E. President Benigno S. Aquino III as guest of honor.

Insights and statistics of the AFJQ Media Coverage of the 118th Philippine Independence Day Celebration in Doha Qatar.

Over 93,000 people have viewed the live updates of the Alliance of Filipino Journalists in Qatar (AFJQ) on the celebrations in Qatar of the 118th Philippine Independence Day as of June 4.
AFJQ, an organization of Doha-based Filipino journalists from various media outlets, is the official Media Center of the year’s grand community event attended by more than 15,000 visitors.
The AFJQ official Facebook page, created on June 1, has also gained more than 620 likes and has more than 121,000 post engagement (as of posting of this article). Post engagement is measured by the number of likes, comments and shares.
Majority of the viewers are women (56 percent) between the age 25 to 34 and about 83 percent of the total viewers accessed the AFJQ page via mobile devices.
Viewers are from at least ten countries majority from Qatar followed by the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
The team led by AFJQ President Delfin Montenegro (ABS-CBN Correspondent) and AFJQ Media Center Head Ailyn Agonia (Qatar Tribune Reporter) provided updates on the preparations for the event and key activities on the actual day of the celebration through photo and video documentation shared on social media (AFJQ Facebook Page/ UFOQ Facebook Page and Website).
Rovic Cruz, an IT specialist and member of UFOQ Council, headed the MediaCenter’s Technical Team while Renan Princena (Pilipino Star Ngayon correspondent) and Ronico Hernandez (Balitanq Q) mobilised a group of photographers and videographers for program coverage and interviews.
AFJQ Secretary Anne Macalinao and Dr Alvin Abainza (Pag-Iribang Bicolnon Qatar/ Qatar University) took charge of the Media Center’s interviews with key personalities and guests during the event including Philippine Ambassador to Qatar HE Wilfredo C. Santos, Labor Attache David Des Dicang, UFOQ Chairman Ed Anami, UFOQ Vice Chairman Ressie Fos, Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International Janela Joy Cuaton, and UFOQ Council members. Prominent community leaders and figures were also given a chance to address the community and share their thoughts on the important event. Among them were HERO Qatar Founding Chairman Henry Dimaano, Pinoy Heart Radio Founding Chairman Romeo ‘DJ Meow’ Villegas, D’Fri3ndz President JM Tejedo, Filipino Fitness and Health in Qatar Chairman Randy Frogosa, Peace Qatar President and Transhow Head Aries Celestial, Doha-based Filmmaker Jordan dela Cruz and Fashion Designer Edwin Ocampo.
